As a key effector of the Hippo signaling pathway, Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) acts as a transcriptional co-activator in regulating the cell growth, apoptosis, and drug resistance of several human malignant tumors [19,20]. When the Hippo signal is inactivated, YAP1 is activated and enters the nucleus to fuse with the transcription factor TEAD, thereby inducing the expression of a series of genes related to proliferation, such as c-myc and cyclin D1 [21].
