Chromium(III)-pyrazole complexes. X-Ray crystal structures, 1H NMR investigation of ligand fluxional behavior and EPR studies
2020, Inorganica Chimica ActaCitation Excerpt :Several other transition metals have been reported to form [MX3(pz*H)3] and [MX2(pz*H)4] complexes, [9–13] however, the corresponding chromium compounds have not been fully explored [8,14]; the reflectance spectra and magnetic susceptibility analysis of insoluble [CrIIX2(pzH)4] (X = Cl, Br and I) is the only relevant literature report [15]. Fluxional processes of coordinated pyrazole ligands were first noted for rhodium [16] and later studied for palladium [17] and copper [18,19] complexes, where proton/metal exchange (tautomerization) were observed in the NMR timescale at ambient temperature. Whereas there is a paucity of data on CrIII-pyrazoles, the analogous CrIII-imidazoles were first reported a long time ago and studied by EPR spectroscopy recently [20–22].
