Abstract
Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) of anterior abdominal wall is an unusual complication. The nature of the condition requires initial extensive wound debridement resulting in large wound burden. The delicate nature of the anterior abdominal wall with presence of underlying bowel or viscera makes the dressing of this wound complicated. Usual antiseptic or cleansing agent may cause fistula formation and systemic absorption with toxic effect. Therefore, we present the application of hypochlorous acid as the cleansing agent for abdominal wall wound following surgical debridement of NF with exposed bowel. The clinical and wound progression with the technique used is shared within the report.
