Abstract

Aluminium metal matrix composites play a very significant role in the modern world because of their versatile properties such as high strength to weight ratio, ductility, high recycle potential, corrosion resistance, electrical and thermal conductivity along with that aluminium alloys have slighter tensile strength and wear property. Attempts are made to improve required properties in the current work an attempt is made to review different solid lubricants which are reinforced with aluminium metal matrix composite, the key factor in solid lubricants is its structure and the force of the bond, in almost all the solid lubricant one of the important factors is hexagonal structure and week force between the atoms which slides rather than the chance to create dislocation, many lubricants like graphite, Molybdenum disulfide, hexagonal boron nitride have the hexagonal structure. The comparison is made on these solid lubricants, all the solid lubricants reinforced composite has a low coefficient of friction at low temperature but graphite and molybdenum disulfide cannot be operated at high temperature.
