I hope 2017 is going to be a great year for you! This first issue of TechTrends for 2017, is a special issue sponsored by the AECT Division of Organizational Training and Performance. Guest editors Nancy B. Hastings and Jennifer A. Bauman have put together a great issue for you. You will find more information about the issue in their Guest Editors’ Notes. I appreciate all they did over several months to make this issue a reality, and I know you do too!

In addition to the special issue content, this issue includes some of our regular columns. Be sure to read the AECT President’s Message, Rethinking Technology & Creativity in the 21st Century, Graduate Member Musings, ICT International, TechSpotting, and the book review column. Donovan Walling provides highlights and observations from the 2016 AECT meeting in Las Vegas too! I hope you enjoy the issue!

Did you notice the new cover design that started with this issue of the journal? Use that change as a reason to mention TechTrends on social media sites, but be sure to comment that it is the content inside the journal that is the really interesting part. There were many people involved in the development, approval, and implementation of the new cover design. In no particular order I would like to thank, the TechTrends Editorial Board, the AECT Board of Directors, Phil Harris, Carol Bischoff and her team at Springer, and Brent Slinkard for his input on the importance of branding. Finally, I want to thank the ad hoc committee that I formed, which took time out of their summer to provide input on the cover designs in order to narrow the choices down to a manageable number for final voting. That committee consisted of: Danilo Baylen, John Curry, Karen Kaminski, Kristi Leonard, Dan Surry, Donovan Walling, and Jen Weible. If I have left anyone out of my expression of thanks, please let me know. The result of everyone’s combined effort is a new cover design that I hope will serve the journal well for several years!
