Barbara B. Lockee is an associate professor and program leader of the Instructional Design and Technology graduate program at Virginia Tech. Her teaching and research interests focus on instructional design issues within distance learning environments.

Dr. Robert A. Reiser is a Distinguished Teaching Professor and the Robert M. Morgan Professor of Instructional Systems in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems at Florida State University. Dr. Reiser has written four books and more than 50 journal articles in the field of instructional design and technology. His most recent book, published in June 2006, is the second edition of Trends and Issues in Instructional Design and Technology (edited with John V. Dempsey). The first edition was awarded the 2002 James W. Brown Publication Award, the premier book award presented by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. The second edition has been awarded the 2006 Outstanding Book Award from AECT’s Division of Design and Development.
