A method is described and the results of measuring the loss tangent tanδ, relative permittivity ε, and conductivity σ of oil shale samples over the frequency range from 20 Hz to 1 MHz at temperatures from 20 to 600°C are presented which can be used to estimate the energy release in an underground stratum on electromagnetic heating.
