Abstract
A binuclear iron(II) complex, [FeII 2L(OTf)2](OTf) (1), with the cage-like ligand LH = [(PyCH2)2N(CH2)3O]2C6H3COOH containing an immobilized carboxylate was synthe-sized and characterized in order to model an active center of soluble methane monooxygenase (sMMO). Studies on the oxidation of cyclohexane with hydrogen peroxide or O2 involving this complex showed that the complex 1 does not catalyze the indicated reactions. Consideration of crystal structure of complex 1 gives an explanation of its inactivity in the reaction of O2 activation.
