Abstract
Hybrid compounds of polypyrrole and polyallylamine doped with iodine and silver (PPy/I/Ag) (PAl/I/Ag) were synthesized combining polymerization and metallic plasma ablation simultaneously with the objective to build hybrid materials sensitive to electromagnetic pulses. Both compounds were obtaining as films with similar chemical structures, low content of Ag atoms, 0.03–0.41% and average thicknesses of 79.5 and 35.2 µm, respectively. The electrical conductivity of the hybrid compounds from 35 to 100 °C was between 10− 8 and 10− 4 S/m with activation energy in the − 0.06 to 3.02 eV interval with 2 semiconductor and 1 conductor mechanisms of charge transference due to the influence of the metallic particles in the polymers. The hybrid compounds showed similar complex electromagnetic absorption in the 200–400 nm wavelength interval, increasing and decreasing with four absorption mechanisms, which suggest internal modifications in the electronic orbitals. The activation energy has 3 values in the UV and 2 in the Visible interval, from − 14.3 to 0.3 eV, suggesting 5 different absorption mechanisms, which indicate that these polymers are sensitive to electromagnetic absorption in the wavelength interval studied.
