Abstract

A new decavanadate metal complex [Fe(phen)3]2·[V10O28]·15H2O (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been synthesized from a hydrothermal reaction and the crystal structure has been determined by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure analysis reveals that the polyoxoanions are decorated with the [Fe(phen)3]3+ cations, and that the water molecules play the bridge role on the packing modes. They are further contacted to form supramolecular networks through extensive hydrogen bonding.
