Features of Determining a Purely Electronic Transition from Diffuse Absorption or Emission Spectra at Low Temperatures

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

It is shown that reducing the temperature narrows the region in which the frequency of the purely electronic transition is localized by the examined method because the populations of "hot" states necessary for transitions in anti-Stokes regions are decreased. As a result, the sensitivity to the inhomogeneity of the ensemble of chromophores determining the spectrum increases. Examples of a change in the position of the frequency of the purely electronic transition in experimental absorption and emission spectra at low temperature are presented.
