A new 5-deoxyflavonol, gladiatin (1), along with a known phenolic compound, methyl gallate (2), have been isolated from the MeOH extract of Canavalia gladiata (Jacq.) DC. (Leguminosae) fruits. The structure of the flavonol (1) was established as 3,7-dihydroxy-6-methoxyflavone on the basis of detailed spectroscopic studies, including 2D NMR analysis.
