Abstract
The reaction of endogenous methane with sulfur is one of the hypothetical methods of formation of the abiogenic constituent of oil and gas systems. It could be the initial stage of condensation transformations of methane and be responsible for correlations between the concentration of sulfur and many of the physicochemical characteristics of crude oil. The key role of these transformations is confirmed by the effect of the sulfur content of crudes on the scales of oil pools. This dependence is manifested on both the continental and on the local levels.
