Summary.

 6,11-Dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-11-ones were obtained by cyclodehydration of 2-(phenoxymethyl)-benzoic acids prepared by reaction of the corresponding phenols with phthalids. Cyclodehydration was found to be most effective using polyphosphoric acid ester. The structure of one of the title compounds was determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis.

Zusammenfassung.

 6,11-Dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-11-one wurden durch Cyclodehydratisierung von 2-(Phenoxymethyl)-benzoesäuren – hergestellt durch Reaktion der entsprechenden Phenole mit Phthaliden – erhalten. Die Cyclodehydratisierung war am effektivsten bei Verwendung von Polyphosphorsäureester. Eine der Titelverbindungen wurde durch Röntgenstrukturanalyse charakterisiert.
