Abstract

RF MEMS switch is an excellent choice for the implementation of reconfigurability in antenna due to its good electromagnetic characteristics. In this paper, the cantilever type RF MEMS switches are used as a connecting element between the antenna patches. The shift in the frequency of the antenna is observed by integrating and actuating the different combination of cantilever switches. The proposed switches are same type of cantilever switches with same pull-in voltage of 5.5 V have been used in the antenna. Here, the lateral left shift of 1.5 GHz is observed from the condition 1 to conditions (2 and 3) and 4.3 GHz of frequency shift in condition 4 is observed from the antenna. The overall bandwidth of 4 GHz is observed in the antenna with the integration of RF MEMS switches in different combinations.
