Zusammenfassung
Der Umgang mit schwierigen Patienten, herausfordernden Situationen und eigenen Gefühlen ist für viele Psychotherapeuten ein zentraler Aspekt ihrer täglichen Arbeit. Doch was genau macht Schwierigkeiten im therapeutischen Verlauf aus, und wie geht man am besten mit ihnen um? Trotz hoher Praxisrelevanz existiert aus wissenschaftlicher Sicht bisher kein einheitliches Verständnis von Schwierigkeiten und Bewältigungsstrategien in der therapeutischen Arbeit. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Entwicklung des Forschungsfeldes und bisherige Ergebnisse.
Abstract
Dealing with difficult clients, situations and their own emotions is an integral part of psychotherapists’ daily work; however, what is the nature of difficulties in psychotherapy and how should therapists’ deal with them? In spite of the high relevance of these topics for therapeutic practice, scientific research in this area lacks consistent definitions of difficulties and the respective coping strategies. This article summarizes the development of current research approaches and respective results.
