Penicillin-resistant pneumococcus

Summary

Penicillin resistant pneumococci are now described world wide, with increasing recognition of the clinical implications of infection with these strains and the laboratory methods required for their identification. In presenting such a case, we suggest thatin vitro sensitivity testing with oxacillin discs affords the best method for detection of penicillin resistant pneumococcal strains.
