Summary
It has been shown that the experimentally obtained function — retention volume VN vs pressure p — approximates the exponential higher degree polynomial very well. The possibilities of utilizing this approximation in the determination of energetic heterogeneity of adsorbents, in calculating adsorption isotherms and the gas-solid virial coefficients are shown. The experimentally obtained functions VN(p) for the adsorption of n-hexane and 1-hexene on controlled porosity glass serve to illustrate theoretical considerations.
