Abstract
Rats were exposed to ozonized air at concentrations up to the maximum experienced in cities with bad smog conditions. The ozone was generated by electrical discharge. In one case the discharge was in air so that the ozone was accompanied by nitrogen oxides. Gross motor activity was significantly reduced as ozone levels increased. There was no significant difference between exposures to air with ozone alone and to air with ozone plus nitrogen oxides.
