Complete metal ion requirement of influenza virus N1 neuraminidases

Summary

Influenza virus neuraminidases of the N1 serotype exhibit a complete dependence on Ca++ ions for activity. It is recommended that viral neuraminidase activity routinely be assessed in buffers containing 5mm CaCl2.
