Selektive Fällung von Formaldehyd mit Tetrahydro-phthalazin

Summary

Formaldehyde can be precipitated quantitatively with tetrahydrophthalazine in weak acetic acid solution. 8.6×10⁻⁶ g of formaldehyde/ml can be safely detected (concentration limit: 3.4×10⁻⁶ g/ml). Other aldehydes do not interfere. Methanol can be detected in aqueous solutions up to a dilution of 1∶2000 by oxidation to formaldehyde. The preparation of tetrahydro-phthalazine starting from phthalhydrazide and o-xylene is described.

Zusammenfassung

Mit Tetrahydro-phthalazin lÄ\t sich Formaldehyd in schwach essigsaurer Lösung quantitativ fÄllen. Es können noch 8,6 · 10⁻⁶ g Formaldehyd/ml sicher nachgewiesen werden (Grenzkonzentration 3,4 · 10⁻⁶ g/ml). Andere Aldehyde reagieren nicht. Durch Oxydation zu Formaldehyd lÄ\t sich Methanol in Wasser noch in Verdünnungen bis 1∶2000 nachweisen. Eine Herstellungsvorschrift für Tetrahydrophthalazin, ausgehend von Phthalhydrazid und o-Xylol wird angegeben.
