Abstract

This paper deals with the return channel (return interaction path) based on terrestrial transmission for an interactive television system. An introduction to interactive services is also presented along with a draft proposal for the SFDMA return channel demonstrator modulation and upconversion scheme. The grouping of carriers for return channel data, their data rate, overall system capacity, forward error coding, and ease of implementation are considered. A trial system, currently under development, is also described.
