Grain Refinement by Solidification in a Moving Electromagnetic Field

Abstract

Solidification in a moving electromagnetic field has been successful in altering the as-cast grain structure of steel ingots. Some of the experimental results were obtained with the equipment shown at right, Fig. 1.
