Abstract
The present manuscript intends to review some methodological aspects related to the economic evaluation of preventive interventions. Exactly, we tried to provide additional information for a better understanding of economic evaluations of preventive interventions introducing the utility in anticipation and the discount rate concepts. In this way, for an efficient use of healthcare resources, the economic evaluation methodology should be used by health professionals and decision makers in a transparent, meaningful and consistent way based on commonly agreed methodological recommendations including quality and validity criteria. The knowledge and consideration of some of the above mentioned questions could be helpful in future investigations.
