Abstract
After the successful launch of the 2.0-l-4V-TDI engine with four valves per cylinder and common-rail fuel injection in a number of passenger-car applications, its use has now been extended to the commercial- and leisure-vehicle area. In the T5 Multivan model line, this basic engine can supersede the previous four- and fivecylinder engines completely. For the top engine-power categories, an entirely new forced aspiration principle with two-stage control has been developed. In addition to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and com pliance with the stringent EU 5 emission limits, special attention was devoted to a torque characteristic providing ample pulling power.
