Abstract

In the process of40Ar/39Ar experiment, excess40Ar(40ArE) released from K-feldspar at low temperature step may mask the real age and thermal history information of the sample. A method for Cl correction of40ArE has been introduced and successively used in correction of abnormally high age values of three K-feldspar samples at low temperature step taken from the Red River fault zone. It provides a reliable age information at low temperature step for further multiple diffusion domain (MDD) model fitting.
