Summary
A specimen ofMosellophyton hefteri n.g. n.sp. has been discovered in situ. It is clear, that the plant inhabited the coastal tidal zone. This, and the fact that the stems and branches are bulbous are indicative of a succulent Halophyte. The question now arises, if the first Cormophytes were Halophytes and if the cormus can be derived from succulence.
