Abstract
For proper interpretation of sugar recovery pattern in India and for delineation of efficient sugar recovery zones, all the sugarcane growing districts of the country have been classified into homogenous units. Based on the district-wise data of average sugar recovery per cent, cane crushed, cane and sugar produced and number of sugar factories, five sugar recovery zones have been delineated and mapped. A detailed examination of the characters of the zones and also their potential and constraints with regard to sugar production was done for the purpose of better planning of research and development activities.
