Summary
The main object of this investigation was to compare bacterial cultures with cell counts in the urine for assesment of urinary tract infection. Quantitative measurement of pyuria is felt to be a simple and dependable screening test. It requires very little time and equipment and gives immediate results, compared with energy, money, time and equipment required for bacterial counts.
This simple procedure is recommended for the initial screening of children in the busy general practitioner’s clinic
