Conclusions

Together with α-iron, when the lamellar compound of graphite with FeCl3 is treated with excess potassium metal another form of iron is formed, whose isomeric shift depends on the atomic ratio of K∶Fe.

The theory was expressed that this form of iron is negatively charged and is responsible for the catalytic synthesis of ammonia.
