Conclusions

Tris (trimethylsilyl) phosphate is cleaved by alkali-metal fluorides, nitrates, and acetates at give the trimethylsilyl esters of the corresponding acids. Reaction with sodium nitrite apparently gives the unstable crimethylsilyl nitrite, which decomposes to hexamethyldisiloxane and nitrogen oxides.
