Conclusions

The reaction of N, N-dimethylurea with bromoacetone in the presence of glacial AcOH leads to a mixture of 4-methyl-2-dimethylaminooxazole and its dimer, and specifically 4-methyl-4-(4′-methyl-2′-dimethylamino-5′-oxazolyl)-2-dimethylamino-Δ2,3-oxazoline.
