Conclusions

  1. 1.

A refractometric method was developed for the determination of the conformations of conjugated systems of the diphenyl type.

  2. 2.

The possibility of the use of correlation equations for the calculation of the exaltation and refraction of coplanar diphenyls in the liquid state was demonstrated.

  3. 3.

The angle of rotation between the benzene rings in certain alkyl- and halodiphenyls was estimated quantitatively.
