Synthesis of 2-methyl-1-hepten-6-one (α-methylheptenone) and some other terpenes of theα-series

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A method was developed for preparing the individualα-methylheptenone, starting with the readily available 1,3-dichloro-2-butene, and the synthesis ofα-geranylacetone was accomplished.

  2. 2.

    The methylheptenone can serve as the starting product for preparing various isoprenoids of theα-series.
