Conclusions
-
1.
The reaction of triethylthallium withα-tert-butyldioxyethanol gives (α-tert-butyldioxyethoxy)-diethylthallium (BEDET).
-
2.
BEDET — an organometallic peroxy compound — decomposes with the cleavage of the oxygen-oxygen bond on being heated in benzene, toluene, isopropyl bromide, and tert-butyl bromide, forming diethylthallium acetate and tert-butanol.
