Some principles in the proton magnetic resonance spectra of heteroorganic compounds of group IV

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The PMR spectra of the compounds (CH3)4−nM(Ri)n, where M=Si, G, and Sn, were compared with the spectra of (CH3)4−nC(Ri)n.

  2. 2.

For the compounds (CH3)4−nM(Ri)n, where M=Si, Ge, it was found that the chemical shifts of the methyl protons are influenced not only by the induction effect and the effect of magnetic anisotropy of the substituents, but also, in the case Ri=-OCH3, -OC2H5, -CH=CH2, by the effect of dπ-pπ-conjugation.

  3. 3.

In the correlation of the chemical shifts of the methyl protons with the constants σ*Si, obtained from reaction series containing silicon, an effect ascribed to dπ-pπ-conjugation remains.
