Summary
-
1.
A volt-ampere investigation of N-benzoylphenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) on a dropping-mercury electrode has been carried out. In acid solutions the reduction wave for BPHA blends with the reduction wave for H+. Distinct reduction waves were obtained for BPHA on a background of 1 M NH4Cl and in buffer solutions of pH 7.5, Under these conditions the threshold current was proportional to the concentration of BPHA.

2.
A volt-ampere investigation of solutions of BPHA with a rotating platinum electrode shows that distinct oxidation waves can be obtained for BPHA only in acid solutions (0.1–10 N H2SO4). Oxidation of BPHA takes place at more positive potentials than oxidation of cupferron.
