Abstract
We first discuss the synchronous and asynchronous interpretations of relativistic dynamics, and then prove that the synchronous formulation makes it possible to define in the limitv↦c the energy-momentum four-vector of a classical field on a wavefront propagating with the velocity of light. It is also shown that except for plane waves, the Poynting vector is not the energy flow vector of the electromagnetic field.
