Zusammenfassung
Wir haben die Ultrastruktur von Placenten verschiedenen Alters untersucht. Dabei wurde festgestellt, daß in der Ultrastruktur der Placenta bis zur Mitte der Schwangerschaft progressive Änderungen vor sich gehen. Ab dann wies das Placentagewebe in der Ultrastruktur einen allmählichen Rückgang auf. Nach unserer Untersuchung ist die Auflösung der Langhansschicht nicht auf die Degeneration des Cytotrophoblasten zurückzuführen, sondern sie ist vielmehr das Ergebnis einer Differenzierung, wobei sich die Langhans-Zellen in Syncytium und vielleicht in Bindegewebs-Zellen verwandelten. Die Auflösung der Langhans-Zellen erfolgt neben der regressiven Veränderung des Placentagewebes mit dem Abschluß der Organogenese des Feten etwa zur gleichen Zeit. Von dieser Zeit ab wird die Bedeutung der Placenta als Schranke und synthetisierendes Organ geringer. Ihre Transport-Tätigkeit tritt am Ende der Tragzeit in den Vordergrund.
