Conclusions
-
1.
A pyrotechnical lamp has given quasicontinuous generation at 300°K with CaWO4 activated by Nd.
-
2.
Pyrotechnical excitation gives a very economical laser of simple design and low weight that does not need supply from a power line.
-
3.
Such excitation may be used with yttrofluorite [8], Ba-La or Sr-La fluoride activated with Nd [9, 10], fluorite with Dy [11], and Y3Al5O12 with various rare earths [12] to give thresholds comparable with those for CaWO4-Nd3+.
