Das Rückenmark von Schleien (Tinca vulgaris) wurde in verschiedenen Höhen operativ durchtrennt.

Nach Durchschneidung der kaudalen neurosekretorischen Bahn im Rückenmark staut sich das Neurosekret in den zentralen Faserstümpfen (vom 2. Tage nach der Operation). In den von der Unterbrechungsstelle distal gelegenen Faseranteilen schwindet das Neurosekret im Laufe der Zeit (vom 7. Tage nach der Operation). Die Neurophysis spinalis caudalis verarmt an Neurosekret und wird atrophisch.

In späteren Stadien erreichen die mit Neurosekret beladenen proximalen Faserstümpfe häufig die Nachbarschaft neugebildeter Blutkapillaren. Diese Befunde sprechen für eine Reorganisation des Stapel- und Abgabeorgans.

Entgegen den Angaben von Olsson (1957) zeigt der Reissnersche Faden nach Durchschneidung des Rückenmarks innerhalb der ersten 24 Tage keine färberischen und morphologischen Veränderungen.
