Summary
Using Eimeria tenella growing in monolayer cultures of chick kidney cells in vitro, interactions have been shown between thiamine and amprolium, pAB and sulphonamides, nicotinamide and 6-aminonicotinamide, and pyridoxine and 4-desoxypyridoxine. It was not possible to demonstrate effects involving biotin, riboflavine, purines or pyrimidines with a number of potential antagonists. It is suggested that the tissue culture system may be useful for studies of coccidial nutrition and in a search for metabolic antagonists for use as drugs.
