Abstract
A major problem confronting the education of students in many health professions is assessing what they do on clinical placements in (often) non-university clinical facilities. Like campus-based assessment, such assessments need to be conducted in a manner that is objective and fair, and is seen to be objective and fair. These assessments are usually undertaken by non-university staff working at the clinical placement.
