Abstract
Workshop 6 was given the title: “Construction and Navigation of Icebreaking Cargo Ships for the NSR”. This subject was too general to talk about in the limited time available. The chairman then proposed to the participants that attention be confined to one aspect of the subject, i.e., harmonization of polar ship requirements, as an urgent need for the harmonization was pointed out during the conference without any detailed discussion. The workshop fortunately had three distinguished experts in this field of work as commentators, namely Dr. Tsoy, Dr. Tunik, and Professor Riska.
