Scour holes in a channel-lobe transition zone on the Rhône Cone

Abstract

Downslope from the channel-mouth of the most recently avulsed channel on the Rhône Cone there are 20 m deep scours that are attributed to a hydraulic jump accompanying flow expansion and a slight decrease of slope.
