Localization and Delocalization in Quantum Chemistry

Part of the book series: Localization and Delocalization in Quantum Chemistry ((LDQC,volume 2))

It is convenient and customary in many branches of physics to divide the physical space into subvolumes or cells for the sake of an easier handling of many-body problems. These cells, which in general have arbitrary shapes and sizes, are no more than useful mental constructs superimposed on the physical system.
