Abstract
Based on shallow seismic surveys, sea-bed sampling and shallow drilling, the bedrock geology from Møre (62°N) to Lofoten (67°N) has been mapped by the Continental Shelf Institute (IKU) during the last ten years. The sediments range in age from Lower Triassic to Pliocene and have been divided into 11 seismic units; all with a slight dip to the west and northwest. The strike is mainly parallel to the present coastline. These Mesozoic and Tertiary deposits are covered by Quaternary tills and glaciomarine and marine clays of variable thickness (up to 500 m).
