Vortex Phase Diagram near Tc via DC and AC Magnetization of BSCCO-2212 Crystal

Abstract

The details of magnetic phase diagram near Tc for H//c of a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystal are clarified via new magnetization data. The irreversibility line is seen to terminate at a temperature T* where temperature dependent magnetization curves intersect. If this line is extrapolated above T*, it would merge into a new line designated as Ts (H) line. The dimensional-crossover temperature T2D(H), which is T* at high field, extrapolates to H=0 axis at a temperature much below the nominally determined Tc value. Our phase diagram appears to confirm the presence of key features predicted by a theoretical model incorporating vortex fluctuations.
