Communicating with Virtual Worlds

Part of the book series: CGS CG International Series ((3056))

Abstract

Future industrial products incorporating micro-computers will require advanced user interface (UIs) to enable the products to be useful and the users to be productive. These UIs will incorporate innovative input and display technologies, such as multimedia and three-dimensional displays, as well as new approaches to metaphors, mental model, navigation, look and feel. These technology advances present challenges and opportunities for designers of human-computer communication and interaction. The design of metaphors is discussed in greater detail.
