Zusammenfassung

Schädigungen des unreifen Gehirns werden zunehmend besser verstanden, wodurch sich auch Möglichkeiten zu ihrer Verhinderung eröffnen. Die therapeutische Hypothermie hat sich als wirksame Methode zur Neuroprotektion bei hypoxisch-ischämischer Enzephalopathie erwiesen. In diesem Kapitel werden diagnostische Möglichkeiten zur Beurteilung der neurologischen Funktion im Neugeborenenalter dargestellt. Klinische Erscheinungsformen und therapeutisches Vorgehen bei Fehlbildungen des zentralen Nervensystems, bei zerebralen Krampfanfällen, bei neonatalem Drogenentzug sowie bei intrakraniellen Blutungen werden beschrieben.
